Kimberly Fitzsimmons

Masters level Intern

Kimberly is completing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree at Grand Canyon University and received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in family and human development from Arizona State University. Kimberly is a Counselor Intern under the supervision of Samuel Bryant LPC and has 7 years of educational training in Psychology and Counseling. Kimberly is a member of the American Counseling Association and has worked in many areas of the mental health field including inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment, counseling, social work, and crisis intervention. 

Kimberly’s approach to counseling is warm and informative. She empathetically listens to understand the hardships of her clients and collaborates with them to discover their individual path of healing. She believes that all human beings struggle at times in their lives, and all are capable of healing and growing through difficult times. She allows the light of God to shine through her and direct her technique to provide the best possible care to her clients. Kimberly firmly believes that every person deserves to be heard and understood in a non-judgmental environment and celebrates her clients’ successes along the way. She believes that every person deserves to live a life filled with joy and freedom, and is passionate in helping her clients achieve their treatment goals. 

Kimberly specializes in working with adolescents, young adults, adults, and helps client’s navigate life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, recovery from abuse, and other mental health problems. Her love of research influences her treatment style so she can provide clients with evidence-based solutions that demonstrate success. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing techniques to help her clients overcome their difficulties. 

Outside of counseling, Kimberly enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, singing, and being in nature. She enjoys gardening, hiking, boating, and exploring new places whether it is a new restaurant or state park, she is always ready for adventure.
