Jamie Guilday, Intern counselor

Jamie studied theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville and psychology at Grand Canyon University received his BS in Psychology before attending Liberty University where he is finishing his Master of Social Work and is part of their Individual and Family Clinical track. He is currently in the licensure process to receive his Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential. He recently married and is the proud father of a lovely daughter.

Before entering school Jamie was a business professional with 14 years working in sales and marketing in various industries including tech and industrial plastics. During that time Jamie volunteered with church ministries which focused on healing, self-growth, and evangelism where he fell in love with the therapeutic process and was mentored by therapists in group and individual therapy. This led him to switch careers from business to psychotherapy.

Education at Franciscan University, especially in the Theology of the Body, formed Jamie’s anthropology and vision of the human person. Today he believes that nobody is beyond hope no matter how difficult the trial they face, and with grace there is a plan for everyone’s healing and restoration.

Jamie’s vision for therapy is that everyone is meant to experience happiness and joy in this life, but we all face suffering which wounds us and casts doubt on the possibility of a happy life. Therapy is a process where we heal and grow so that we can begin to experience that joy again and have life-giving relationships, ultimately realizing what St. Irenaeus declared “The glory of God is man fully alive!”. Finally, just as Christ’s wounds on the cross were transformed into a well of divine mercy for the world, our wounds too, once healed, can become fountains of mercy and healing for others.

Jamie uses a person-centered approach and specializes in trauma, PTSD, spiritual abuse, and self-actualization. He is trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy which is an advanced eye-movement therapy known for its quick results when working with both simple and complex trauma. Jamie also has education in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Motivational Interviewing(MI), and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. Jamie integrates the Christian teachings on forgiveness and the power of the truth to set the person free into his therapeutic process.
